This is the loading animation from a weekend project I did with a small team at General Assembly’s Reinventing Local Hackathon. The idea was to build a working product in about a 24 hour period. That means design, code, copy, concept — everything in just 24 hours. We called this thing Mapper. It would visualize your Foursquare check-in data by creating a unique neighborhood made up of 8 districts. Each district had 4 possible levels that the user could achieve by getting out and exploring new places in that district’s category. That meant 32 unique illustrations, plus a number of little illustrations to explain how the site worked and help navigation. All of this had to be done in a 24 hour period.
The project is on hold for now while we build out actual product, but I’ll share more of the work that went into creating mapper here on Field Study.
